Wondering which shared hosting package you should pick from SiteGround hosting?
In this guide, I will help you to pick the best shared hosting package from SiteGround hosting.
SiteGround shared hosting offers 3 hosting packages, which is useful for an end-user to pick the right one, according to their server requirement.
There is a noticeable price difference between the three packages, so it’s a good idea to pick the one that is best suitable for your website. Siteground offers StartUP, GrowBig, and GoGeek shared hosting package, and as you go up the package ladder, you get more features. SiteGround is regarded as cheap WordPress hosting by one of the top publication.
Growbig is the most popular one & complete value for money. GoGeek, on the other hand, is recommended for those users who need staging feature. I will be sharing more details later, but first, let me explain the features and limitation of all the three plan. In the end, II have also recommended the right SiteGround hosting plan based on your website requirement.
Before I share the difference between Siteground GrowBig, GoGeek & StartUP packages, have a look at the below image. This will give you an overview of features that you will be getting with each shared hosting package:
You might notice that every package have “Suitable for ~ xxxx Visits monthly“, you can ignore this part, as Siteground offers unlimited visits. This is calculated to ensure that you don’t abuse their visits policy, and if you are using a memory hogging application, you will need more resources. More on this later, but first let’s look at the detail of every shared hosting package.
StartUP:
This is the first & cheapest hosting package offered by SiteGround. This package cost only $3.95/month with this special link, and you can host only one site in this package. This comes with 1 free domain & is recommended for any site with less traffic or fewer resources. This package doesn’t offer SuperCacher technology, which is a limitation, as SuperCacher will speed up your site to a great extent.
Other important information:
- Database queries may not exceed 10% of system resources per second
- Maximum DB size is 500MB/Database
- Maximum 10 simultaneous connections from a single IP
- 150,000 inodes per account
- 300,000 CPU seconds limit for any given calendar month
GrowBig (the Most popular one):
This is the most popular package on SiteGround, as it offers all of their great features including free SSL certificate & SuperCacher technology. Under this package, Siteground keeps 30 backup copies of your website, which is extra saving as you don’t have to pay for your website backup service.
This package cost $14.95/month & comes with one free domain name for life, you can grab this package for only $7.95/month using this special promo link. (Limited time discount). This package is recommended for any medium traffic website, (I’m hosting 5 WordPress sites on this hosting package), and I recommend you to enable SuperCacher. Here is a tutorial for enabling SuperCacher with WordPress.
Additionally, you should also integrate with CloudFlare, as it filters out spam/bot traffic, and your CPU seconds per account will be reduced.
GoGeek hosting package:
This is their highest Shared hosting package which comes with One-click staging for WordPress and Joomla. This server is also PCI compliance which is recommended for the E-commerce website. This package is recommended for high-end sites which need to be on shared hosting, and need more resources. The disk Size for GoGeek is 30GB.
This hosting package cost $29.95/month, and you can get it for $14.95/month using this exclusive link.
Conclusion: Which Siteground Hosting Package is best for you?
You need to consider a few things such as disk space requirement while picking the right hosting package for your site. From my experience, here is a recommendation for you:
- Running only a static or HTML site, use StartUP plan.
- Running a WordPress, Joomla or any other platform, use GrowBig plan.
- Running E-Commerce or need staging, use GoGeek plan.
There is a considerable difference in pricing for every hosting type, and I recommend you to pick the GrowBig plan for the 2-3 year term. Using the below link, you will get 60% off on your first hosting bill (By 2-3 year hosting term, you will be saving a lot.). You will also get a free domain for life with any hosting package. Make sure that you buy the domain name at the time of sign-up.

Hi Harsh, Thanks for the informative post. You mentioned that SG provides unlimited visits but they indicated x number for respective plans. What happens if your website exceeds the monthly visitor number? Thanks! Lawrence
@lAwrence
That’s a problem with them. They offer unmetered traffic, but they have a limitation on resources. If you have business site with specific amount of traffic, you are good on Siteground, else you should consider alternatives like Cloudways or Inmotionhosting.
Hi, thanks for the helpful info. Is it possible to upgrade mid contract? I mean, if I get the start up for my brand new wordpress blog and I find myself needing more features, will they let me upgrade to the Grow big plan?
@Kay
Apologies for delayed response. Yes, you can upgrade or downgrade your SiteGround plan anytime in future.
Shared this post on my G+, Fb and twitter..Thanks Harsh!
